Fake news can be defined as news that is completely made up, manipulated to resemble credible journalism. Its purpose is to attract maximum attention and, with it, advertising revenue. Fake news is designed to deceive readers to maximise traffic and to make a profit.

Fake news can include websites that circulate distorted, decontextualised or dubious information. Which is why it’s not surprising many hoaxes and false stories have spread online in a viral fashion, often with devastating consequences.

Can we control fake news and its effect on business and brand? This is what the Eventus International Fake News seminar will be exploring on the 23rd of August 2017 in a one-day session at the Southern Sun Elangeni Maharani, Durban.

The Eventus International Fake News seminar will be facilitated by entrepreneur, international keynote speaker, digital expert and CEO of DigitLab, Mike Saunders.

The Fake News seminar will define how fake news can negatively impact businesses and brands, divide society and effect societies decision-making processes.

This one-day seminar has been developed to teach you how to identify fake news stories and separate fictitious information from factual news. You’ll also learn how to control and prevent the spread of fake news, as well as how to respond in an effective manner to minimise the effects of fake news on your business and brand.
