Why investing in SEO and Web Design are important

With the state of the world being what it is because of the global pandemic, most businesses are going online. What does this mean for your business?

To put it simply… more competition. But now the competition can affect your placement within the Google search results page. This is the time to make sure that your website or online business is optimised as much as possible within SEO and that you have a good web design.

SEO will help you with your overall website health and your Google rankings, while good web design should keep people on your website, assist you in speaking to your target audience as well as assist with your Google rankings.

Here are some Web Design and SEO points to better elaborate:

Web Design

  • It sets the first impression. Web design is important because it impacts how your audience perceives your brand. The impression you make on them can either get them to remain on your page and learn about your business or leave your page and turn to a competitor. A good web design helps you keep your leads on your page.
  • It aids your SEO strategy. Many web design elements and practices (such as H1 headings, images, size, load time etc.)  influence how you publish content on your website, which in turn affects how search engine spiders crawl and index your website. If your on-page SEO fundamentals are not done right, you’ll be fighting an uphill battle for visibility from the start.
  • It builds trust with your audience. People don’t trust poorly designed websites. If they see your poor design or the information looks outdated, they won’t trust your site.
  • Your competitors are doing it. You want your website to stand out from the competition. If you have an old, outdated, and low-quality website, your competitor’s will outrank you. Their well-designed website will perform better than your website.

SEO

  • Find good keywords that relate to your website and your business. Make sure they appear on your website and are what your audience could be searching for. Having a keyword strategy is a good idea because it lets you keep track of which keywords to include and their rankings. Without this, people searching something relating to your business will not be shown your website as it does not seem relevant to them by Google’s standards.
  • Figure out why the other pages are outranking you. This will help you to better optimise your website and help build your SEO efforts. Figuring out what competitors are ranking for and where they appear in search ranks will help you better prepare for the work that is ahead of you. Giving you a clear understanding of what needs to be done to outrank your competitors. Google Analytics, MozBar etc. are good tools to use to find this kind of information.
  • Beat those pages on those points. Just that. Beat them on those points. If your SEO strategy and keyword implementations are done correctly, you’ll be giving them a run for their money in no time.
  • Rinse and repeat. Once it works, keep at it. Strategies only stop working once you stop paying attention and let things slip. If you are constantly researching and optimizing – then nothing can stop you.

Remember, these are important things to implement into your routines now as most businesses are moving into a digital or online space, so the competition is seriously upped, and you don’t want your business to fall behind.

Being in this industry and doing this (what feels like every day) has taught me a lot about rankings and how to improve them. Going from clients with zero visibility to clients with extreme visibility, it is always the same process. Keep to that process and there is no reason why your website and SEO will falter.
